3D Printing Solutions

For mechanical products, I have taken courses in AutoCAD, SCRC-Ideas Best Practices, and Practical applications of Unigraphix and currently use AutoCAD Fusion 360 and QCAD.  For Electronics design, I use PCAD-2006 and Altium Designer 2010. I can create and provide 3D models for mechanical items and electro-mechanical items, or provide feedback on your designs to make them more printable Here is one non-functional proof-of-concept for a remote controlled switch that was designed in both AutoCAD Fusion 360 and Altium PCAD, prototyped using the 3D printer and a Protomat Circuit board router used to communicate all of the critical design elements to the mechanical engineers.  This was later turned into a substantially different looking final design with all of the critical design elements accounted for. Below is a permanent mount for an old cell phone being used as a fixed location workshop media player, web browser and messaging center and designed to hold the p...

Electrical Solutions

I've been doing electrical work of some type since I could walk.  I come from a family of homebuilders and we've done everything, often I was the informal journeyman and often did the whole job up to connecting to the utility.  Call me first with the problem, and if I can (legally) fix it myself I will, and if it requires calling and electrician I have a number of contacts and can often either act as a go-between or partner or come up with intermediate solutions to save you cost.

Finding products and parts to accomplish a task is my specialty.  Sometimes it requires careful engineering and sometimes it just requires a couple of relays and some duct tape.  Knowing how much is enough without over-engineering when it's appropriate vs when to make something bulletproof and mass-producible is often an art.

Starting in the late 1980's, I used my curiosity about computers to design and develop database systems for a relative's position as director of Who's Who in PhotoJournalism and Database and Spreadsheet systems to manage P&L and handle quotes and billing for family's construction company and a hair salon, including handling the taxes automatically, which you would use a program like quicken for today to make the accountant's life easy. Not an official position, but as a geek using BBS' and many types of computers since 1980, Started as the Chief Technology Officer for a Mom and Pop Print and copy shop, The Printing Press, and helped them move from 2 Macs and a segregated Xenix based Customer management system and everything done with actual print, copy and paste (glue) to a fully digital; networked system utilizing PCs, Macs, and the Xenix network so that the company could work with customers on any layout system such as CorelDraw on the PC and finish on t...
